Session #3 Wrap-Up

It was pretty entertaining to watch the water change last night. Chris H. and I estimated that durring the course of the competition the river level dropped as much as 2'. This was not nearly as entertaining of course as the amazing paddling we saw on the water last night.

Dave and Pat critique Chris’s use of the whistle and timer during the event.

We had three events for the evening- each one pushing the paddlers to their Best levels possible for a flushy wave.

Round #1: Call your ride
Paddlers picked their ride before they entered the wave and in the course of three rides at 45 seconds each did their best to replicate the moves they chose in the order they chose. The people who did the best in the event chose spins/blunts they knew they could do.

  1. Pat
  2. Brian Jamison
  3. Dustin Semb
  4. Dave Alca
Round #2: Big Trick Contest
Always a crowd favorite this pushed paddlers to try something entirely new. The winners almost stuck a big trick.
  1. Brian Jamison - Donkey Flip
  2. Dave Alca - Donkey Flip
  3. Whitney Fish - Spin
  4. Dustin Semb - Pan Am Attempt
Round #3: Spin to Win
Paddlers were challanged to get out on the wave and spin as much as they could, in any direction and any way (paddle spins counted as half a point). The winners managed to combine the boat and the paddle spins for the most combined spins between two 30 second rides.
  1. Brian Jamison - 9.5 spins
  2. Dave Alca - 7 spins (limted by lack of paddle)
  3. Dustin Semb - 6.5 spins (whirling paddle of fury)
  4. Pat - 4 spins
  5. John Karpenko - 3 spins
